The BOB IBEX is a bicycle trailer equal to the requirements of any cycling adventure. The IBEX features an adjustable suspension providing a minimum of 3" of trailer wheel travel, dramatically extending the possibilities for off-road adventures. NOTE: BOB trailers adapt to most bikes on the market. A bicycle frame's rigidity (along with other factors noted below) will affect your bike's handling when towing our trailers. Bikes with stiffer rear ends will give better stability. Traditional frame designs with welded rear triangles offer the best performance when pulling our trailers. BOB trailers are also compatible with frames that have rear suspension provided they are adequately stiff. These frames are generally characterized as those having a "triangulated" rear suspension system with well-engineered and maintained pivot points.
Bikes that lack "rear triangle" stiffness may not be compatible with the trailer when it is loaded to its maximum rated weight (70lbs for YAK, 50lbs for COZ). The weight of the trailer acting on the "rear triangle" can cause the frame to flex and the trailer and bike combination to develop a wobbling motion. The result can be a bike that is sluggish and difficult to control or brake which could lead to a crash (or damage the trailer, its contents or your bike). After purchase we recommend cautiously test riding, braking and turning with the trailer at speed with a non-human test load without traffic or other hazards present, to determine if this condition exists. You should begin with a load no more than 35% of the maximum weight limit for the trailer and incrementally increase to the maximum (per the maximum in the owners manual). This condition could also be exacerbated by wet, muddy, sandy, or gravel covered surfaces, tire pressure, wheel, tire or brake type, rider weight and skill, trailer load and center of gravity, wind, and bike speed to name a few things.
