The Nap Nanny Story
“Why don’t you stop talking about it and just make it?”
Those were the words of Leslie’s husband, Jamie. Words that led to the creation of the Nap Nanny.
Leslie and Jamie’s newborn daughter Kendall didn’t like sleeping flat even a little bit when she was born. The only way for everybody to get any sleep was to put Kendall in the car seat or swing. One isn’t ideal for the crib, the other doesn’t fit in the crib.
Leslie kept asking the rhetorical question, why hasn't anyone made something shaped like a car seat but for home use? There were plenty of wedges on the market, but inevitably the baby rolled down to the flat part of the mattress, or it just plain didn’t work. Something shaped like a car seat would hold the baby in place.
Jamie’s words set the wheels in motion.
The process started slowly and gained significant speed as 2008 got underway.
Once they found the right foam manufacturer, the design was finalized. The original, oversized, nine pound chunk of foam was ultimately reduced to a more compact, two and a half pound functional product.

After registering for the ABC Kids Expo Trade Show - set for September 2008 - it seemed like the perfect time to launch the Nap Nanny. Suddenly a lot needed to be done.
The summer of 2008 was a whirlwind. The list of tasks seemed endless; from turning out prototypes, finding someone to make the cover and the right fabric to make it with, to building the website, designing a logo, getting insurance, making displays and putting together a press kit.
Since the process began, the Kemm family has grown to a family of four. Husband Jamie, daughter Kendall and son Chase have been incredibly supportive and patient through the whole process. They're all in this together.
In addition to Leslie's quest to help families sleep, she has a full time job that she loves, too. Leslie is in her 12th year with Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia where she's a Sports Anchor and Reporter. Her passion for sports is as strong now as it was when she went into the business in 1994. The only difference is she has less time to enjoy sports when she's not working.
Despite her golf game suffering, the journey to get here has been exciting, challenging and rewarding all mixed into one. Turning a dream into a reality hasn’t been an easy process, but nothing good is ever easy, right? Nap Nanny believes in what they’ve created and we know you will too.
